DESCRIPTION:Libbey House Announces Fall Lecture Series:  100 Years of Disability History in Our Community\nA Lecture Series in Honor of Tim Harrington\, Executive Director\, Ability Center of Toledo \nThe lecture series will honor the legacy of the Ability Center of Toledo\, which celebrated its 100th anniversary in 2020\, and the work of its long-time executive director\, Tim Harrington.  Harrington has announced that he will be retiring by the end of 2021. \nThe Boy Who Changed the World:  Toledo and the ‘Crippled Children’s Movement’\nLecture by Barbara Floyd\, Libbey House board member and local historian.  This lecture will look at Toledo’s early history of assisting persons with disability\, beginning with a young boy born without legs and arms in 1901. \nThe cost is FREE through a grant from the Ohio Humanities\, in recognition of the 125th anniversary of the Libbey House. Space is limited to the first 30 people. Sign up soon to reserve your place. \n\nAll lectures will begin with a reception at 6:30 and lecture at 7 p.m. in the first floor parlor of the Libbey House\, located in Toledo’s Historic Old West End at 2008 Scottwood.  Accessible parking for those requiring it is available at the rear of the house off Woodruff\, and a ramp to the front of the house is located adjacent to the parking. \n\n\nSupport has been provided by Ohio Humanities\, the National Endowment for the Humanities\, and the federal ARP Act of 2021.\n\nFor your safety and the safety of others\, we request masks be worn while in the house\,  except when eating and drinking. Hand sanitizers are available for your use.
