Libbey House Announces Fall Lecture

Florence Scott Libbey:  Her Story

Lecture by Julie McMaster, Archivist at the Toledo Museum of Art will discuss the life of Florence Scott Libbey.

Libbey is a well-known name in Toledo because of the Libbey Glass Company. But the Scott family came to the Northwest Ohio area in the early 1800s and were involved in the settlement of the Maumee Valley.  Florence Scott Libbey, granddaughter of Jesup Scott, married Edward Drummond Libbey.  What do we know about the woman in this power couple?

Julie McMaster, Archivist at the Toledo Museum of Art, will speak about Florence – her life, background and accomplishments – together, and independent from, her husband, Edward Drummond Libbey.

The event will begin with a reception at 6:00 and lecture at 7:00 p.m. in the first floor parlor of the Libbey House, located in Toledo’s Historic Old West End at 2008 Scottwood.

The cost of the lecture is $10, and includes the reception prior to the talk.

Accessible parking for those requiring it is available at the rear of the house off Woodruff, and an accessible ramp to the front of the house is located adjacent to the parking.
