America 250 Ohio is the statewide initiative commemorating the 250th anniversary of the United States in 2026.
It invites communities across Ohio to reflect on the past, celebrate the present, and imagine the future through programs, events, and storytelling. America 250 Ohio highlights Ohio’s role in shaping the nation and encourages local organizations, educators, and residents to participate in meaningful ways, from historical exhibits and cultural celebrations to civic engagement and educational projects.
Nothing says “Happy 250th Anniversary, America!” quite like a picnic. So, throughout the month of July in 2026, communities all across Ohio will gather for food, fun and friendship to celebrate our nation’s freedom, honor of our nation’s history and Ohio’s notable contributions to U.S. history!
Ohio’s Homecoming & Picnics will be a chance for Ohioans to gather in groups of all sizes – from family groups to companies, churches, civic organizations, and even whole communities. It is an opportunity to invite friends from far and near to reconnect and share this festive celebration.
